We are delighted to announce Slow The Flow has joined the Community Foundation for Calderdale’s new membership club – building on the warm and productive relationship we have had with CFFC for over five years.
Membership will enable us support the work of other fantastic community groups and charities operating in the Calder Valley, as membership fees will go towards the Foundation’s grants funds.
It will also make it easier to work collaboratively with partner organisations and funders, including those tackling the Climate Emergency.
Bede Mullen, chair of Slow The Flow, said:
The Community Foundation for Calderdale played a key leadership role coordinating the response to the devastating Boxing Day floods in 2015, an event which led to the formation of Slow The Flow. So when we learned CFFC had set up a new scheme to strengthen the voluntary sector locally we didn’t hesitate to sign up.
The support of CFFC has been crucial to the development of Slow The Flow.
It has awarded us several grants, including funding to map opportunities for reducing flood risk in Mytholmroyd and develop curriculum-aligned lessons for primary and secondary schools on natural flood management.
We have also won a number of CFFC awards which have helped increase our profile locally – the Calderdale Community Spirit Great and Green award in 2017 and 2018, Best New Charity in 2019, and best marketing campaign in 2020.
We look forward to working more closely with the team at CFFC , and the new ‘foundation club’ membership network, to grow communities’ flood resilience.
