Jackie Lowe
Jackie has been a volunteer with Slow The Flow since 2021 and was a Trustee from 2022-2024. She's still an active supporter, helping to run volunteer sessions and raising awareness of the benefits of natural flood management.
Jackie works for the Environment Agency as the NFM lead for South Yorkshire, so is thoroughly converted to the cause.
Robin Gray
Robin is a Chartered Landscape Architect and Environmental Scientist with 25 years’ experience of managing natural environment projects including the award winning Watershed Landscape project. Working as part of the Calderdale DEFRA Flood Resilience Community Pathfinder programme, he qualified in a Post Graduate Certificate in Flood & Coastal Risk at the University of Lancaster. In his day job as South Pennines Local Nature Partnership Development Manager he delivered natural environment research and programmes worked closely with hydrologists and modellers at the University of Leeds (Water@Leeds). Robin is now project development officer for the Forestry commission.
Paul Williams
Paul is a Geography Teacher with 20 years’ experience of teaching in secondary schools in Calderdale. A former Head of Geography and Geology, he now teaches A Level Geography part time whilst looking after his family. Paul has an interest in a range of environmental issues and prior to teaching was a Project Officer for BTCV (now TCV) in the West Pennines organising and delivering a range of practical conservation projects.
Patrick Devine
Pat retired to Hebden Bridge in 2017 and, wanting to become involved with local community activities, became a flood warden, a Slow The Flow volunteer and a Slow The Flow Trustee. His career was largely in the IT and telecoms industries. Initially in research and development before moving into commercial and legal roles and finishing as a project manager for the Channel Island Competition and Regulatory Authority. As a Trustee Pat's focus was on the capture of large quantities of good quality data from NFM works with the aim of being able to create persuasive arguments in support of STF's objectives.
Tom Lockett
Thomas is a local of Hebden Bridge, and over the years has seen the need for reducing flood risk in the area. He can be regularly found walking the surrounding areas. He has been involved with volunteering with Slow the Flow since very early on, as well as other local environmental groups. He has a large amount of hands-on experience with creating NFM interventions.
Victoria Harrison Johnstone
Victoria is a Senior Flood Risk Consultant with over 10 years experience of working in water related industries with the aim of reducing flood risk impacts while enhancing nature's wonderful biodiversity and increasing understanding of blue/green infrastructure. Yorkshire born and bred with an 8 year stint in the West Midlands, before moving back to Calderdale a few years ago. Volunteer for Slow the Flow reviewing planning applications and also founder of a Repair Cafe in Elland.
Stuart Bradshaw
Stuart Bradshaw is a Consulting Civil, Structural and Geotechnical Engineer from the Calder Valley in West Yorkshire which was badly affected by flooding on Boxing Day 2015.
Brian Smith
With a career spanning more than 47 years, Brian has a broad, diverse skill base and technical expertise across engineering disciplines relevant to the Water Industry, gained both in public and private sectors, 22 of which were with Yorkshire Water where he established clear direction and strategy for stormwater management and innovative, intelligence driven solutions. He represented Yorkshire Water at national level on technical, regulatory and legislative matters and was the national and international interface on policy and standards development, representing the UK on the development of an International Standard (ISO) for stormwater management.
