Our next volunteer days are Saturday 1st AND Sunday 9th July 2017 from 9.30am, meet at the bottom (Midgehole) car park at Hardcastle Crags.

Please contact secretary@slowtheflow.net to book your place and to help us manage numbers of volunteers.

We have a range of volunteering opportunities. You will need to fairly fit although you will not be expected to carry heavy weights, just a desire to help ‘Slow The Flow’. There are a range of tasks suitable for all ages as we have already demonstrated with our amazing volunteers who have helped to date. Under 18s need to accompanied by a responsible adult..  Opportunities exist during the week and at weekends so if you have a few hours to spare either weekly or monthly, we would love to hear from you.

Please complete the form below if you are interested in becoming involved.

1. Construction of Plate Weirs and Leaky Dams at Hardcastle Crags – Volunteers are needed to build plate weirs and leaky dams throughout the catchment. Training will be given and you will need to be able to walk some distance between sites.  Construction will start very soon so if you are interested and would like to become involved, please contact us using the form below.

2. Landowners and Land Managers – Do you own or manage land in the upper catchment and would you like to know more about what you can do to ‘Slowtheflow’, please get in touch to have a chat about how you can help.

What else can you do?

As a community, we can all play a part to make our valley safer and to slow the flow of water into our rivers preventing damage to our homes, business, public spaces and schools.  Even if you can only spare a few hours a month, we would love to hear from you.

Everyone can help in their own environment. If you are unable to be part of our organised volunteering efforts, you can still look at our pages on HOW YOU CAN SLOW THE FLOW AT HOME / WORK / PUBLIC SPACES / SCHOOLS and in our community.

We can all contribute in small ways to help each other.

We are staffed by volunteers who work during the day so please bear with us if we do not respond straightaway. We look forward to hearing from you.
